Position: General Teaching Assistant with SEN

Hours: 12.83 hours per week, Monday – Tuesday, 39 weeks per year term time only, plus training days.

Location:
Scarborough, North Yorkshire - Wheatcroft Community Primary School

General Teaching Assistant (GTA) with SEN Allowance and Midday Supervisory (MSA) role.

Option of a GTA/MSA Supply Contract for non-working days.

Wheatcroft Community Primary School are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join our primary school for 2 days per week (Monday and Tuesday) on a fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment with the potential of a supply contract for your non-working days for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide high quality classroom support, with a particular focus on pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They will help to promote pupils' academic, social and emotional development, ensuring all children can access learning and achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will
  • Be patient, understanding and compassionate in their approach to supporting children.
  • Have experience of working with pupils with SEND, including adapting support to meet individual needs.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of inclusive practice and strategies that help pupils engage successfully in learning.
  • Have experience of working with primary-aged children more generally, either within a school or a similar setting.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
  • Support pupils' wellbeing, confidence and independence.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
