About this Role

Personal Development Mentor – Brompton Hall School

Are you a hardworking, creative, and knowledgeable professional with a passion for supporting children with SEND? Brompton Hall School is seeking additional members of the Pastoral team to play a vital role in shaping the personal development and welfare of our pupils. As a Personal Development Mentor, you will ensure high‑quality pastoral support for pupils with additional needs, working closely with staff, families, and external agencies.

You will also lead personal development across the whole school, driving initiatives that promote well‑being, resilience, and positive relationships, and support interventions for all pupils within the school.

This role is term time only, 37 hrs per week. Actual pro‑rata salary is £28,413–£30,867.37 (39 paid weeks).

Brompton Hall School is based within private grounds in the pretty village of Brompton‑by‑Sawdon and is a Special Education School for pupils aged between 8 and 16 years.

Our Multi Academy Trust is a group of inspirational and aspirational mainstream and specialist schools in North Yorkshire, Hull and South Yorkshire whose main objective is to ensure that all pupils make exceptional progress through the development of outstanding staff.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils, including Looked‑After Children.
  • Use specialist skills and training to support pupils.
  • Arrange and develop mentoring arrangements and provide support to disengaged or vulnerable pupils.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of pupils to determine those in need of particular help.
  • Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self‑esteem.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behavioural support strategies.
  • Provide administrative support, update records, and liaise with parents and carers as required.
We're Looking For Someone Who
  • Has experience working with children or young people.
  • Is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people.
  • Has NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well in a team but can also use their initiative.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
