Are you a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tutor looking to help young people reach their full academic potential?

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring a Tutor to work across a range of supportive and forward-thinking secondary schools in Scarborough. We are looking for a dedicated, adaptable, and encouraging education professional who is passionate about delivering personalised learning and helping students build confidence in their studies.

Tutor Role

The successful Tutor will provide targeted academic support through one-to-one and small group sessions, helping students strengthen their understanding of key subjects and overcome barriers to learning. We are looking to recruit a Tutor who can adapt their teaching approach to meet individual learning needs while fostering confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards education.

Tutor Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging one-to-one and small group tuition sessions across a range of subjects
  • Assess students' learning needs and plan tailored support to improve academic progress
  • Monitor and record student achievement, providing constructive feedback and encouragement
  • Support students in developing effective study skills, confidence, and independent learning habits
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment that promotes engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student outcomes
Tutor Requirements
  • Experience tutoring or teaching children or young people in an educational setting is desirable
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, encouraging, and flexible approach to supporting students' academic development
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
