T Level (Education and early Years) Placement Assessor

Our T Level in Education and Early Years (Early Years Educator and Assisting Teaching) students attend college and industry placements on a week-in/week-out basis, with Year 1 and Year 2 students alternating each week.

The course has its own classroom base which has been designed to suit student needs and the course requirements, complete with home-corner, sink and practice displays.

Your line manager will be the Head of Technical Education, who is also the main teacher of the T Level in Education and Early Years, but you will also be working with an additional programme teacher, both of whom have a wide range of relevant vocational experience.

To assess Early Years Educator, you must have a full and relevant qualification in Early Years to at least Level 3 and must have previous relevant employment experience in an early-years setting.

To assess Assisting Teaching, you must have a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification at Level 3, or a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification, or a teaching qualification, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, QTS as well as previous relevant employment experience working in an educational context such as a school, college or alternative provision.

You should ideally hold a recognised assessor qualification or be willing to work towards one if required. Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills are also essential along with a flexible and pro-active approach.

The work will involve travelling to placements, mainly in the Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering and Bridlington areas. You will therefore need a current driving licence with access to a car insured for business use.

Working times can be arranged flexibly provided the needs of the role are met.

Applicants may wish to consider this role alongside the additional post of 0.2 Teacher of the T Level in Education and Early Years, subject to meeting the person specification requirements.

Grade & Salary Range

The successful candidate will be appointed within scale points 7 - 10 of the College’s Salary Structure for Support Staff, currently paid at £25,951 - £27,733 p.a. for full-time.

Actual salary will be pro-rata to the hours and weeks worked (e.g., £17,966 p.a. for 30 hours per week on point
7)

Main Terms & Conditions

This contract is on a permanent basis working 30 hours per week and commencing as soon as the successful candidate is available, following recruitment and safeguarding checks.

Working times are negotiable in agreement with the Head of Faculty and are expected to be worked flexibly to meet the needs of the role – for example, more hours may be worked until May half term to offset the reduced workload after May.
