We are looking for a Band 3 Speech and Language Assistant to work collaboratively within the Community SLT Service across the Scarborough Whitby, Pocklington and Ryedale locality.
You would be part of a small, dedicated, knowledgeable SLT team. You will have regular supervision and training opportunities and be supported in your development by experienced staff members. You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge, operational awareness, and contribute to service improvement. This is a fixed term post for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the jobYou will be expected to support with the provision of Speech and Language Therapy service. You will be carrying out treatment programmes with our community SLT patients which have been created by qualified therapists. You will support with duties including booking and arranging appointments, assisting registered Therapists delivering programmes and also assist with data collection, and ordering of supplies for the service.
Applicants should have a strong value base and promote holistic person-centred care. Previous experience of working within SLT and community experience would be advantageous. Additional specific training can be provided.
The post holder needs to be flexible, enthusiastic, have good time management skills, confident IT skills, and work well in a team as well as independently. A car driver and access to own vehicle use with business use insurance is essential as this is a community based role.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge- NVQ III in health or social care or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Working knowledge of mental and Physical health issues
- Able to plan and prioritise effectively and efficiently
- Able to demonstrate, excellent all round customer service skills.
- Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity.
- Experience of working with or providing support to the general public
- Experience of using a range of MS Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc
