This position is in a manufacturing environment on AFTERNOON SHIFT (Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM)
SUMMARY
Working under general direction from the Quality Manager, the Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for measuring existing products against established Company standards determined by the quality engineer, the customer's contract, quality system, or standards imposed by the government. This includes inspecting finished goods, monitoring output, and analyzing trends for continuous improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sample, test, and measure products to ensure they meet pre-determined quality standards, including ISO
- Assist with physical testing such as drop tests, including handling large or heavy components using crane or other lifting equipment as required
- Compare findings against customer, Company, and/or standard requirements
- Ensure products are in accordance with established tolerance for quality and performance
- Document all inspection activities, maintain accurate records, and provide input to the Quality and Production teams
- Issue non-conformance reports (Hold or Reject Tags) based on established quality levels
- Perform and generate inspection and test experiment reports
- Perform First Article Inspection (FAI’s) or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) layouts as required
- Provide guidance to Production Workers, enabling them to perform the appropriate preliminary quality checks and inspections
- Provide input on quality issues to be addressed by the Production and Engineering departments
- Support the Engineering department in performing testing and validation activities (TEs), including evaluation testing
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Quality Department
- Perform other duties as required
ATTRIBUTES
- Able to read and communicate verbally, and in writing, in the English language, as well as read and interpret Engineering Drawings, Code Specifications, and Purchase Orders to verify product compliance with established requirements
- Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Able to troubleshoot with a sense of urgency
- Must be mechanically inclined, with strong attention to details
- Motivated team player with superb interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, time management and documentation skills
- Team oriented with the ability to work within a diverse workplace
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Quality role, preferably within an injection and/or blow-molding plastics manufacturing environment
- ASTM Quality Inspector certification is considered an asset
- Requires a high school diploma
- Experience working in a fast-paced and highly changing environment with limited supervision
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work conditions are consistent with a manufacturing plant environment. The Quality Control Inspector requires a moderate degree of physical fitness, as the role requires him/her to occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Moreover, this position may require forceful exertions, awkward postures, and repetitive movements. He/she must also be able to lift or move up to 55 pounds, and must also be able to work near moving mechanical machinery.
He/she must be able to work in an environment with high noise levels (hearing protection required).
