Practice Nurse – Scarborough

Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Permanent / Fixed-term (flexible)
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (to be agreed)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (aligned with NHS Agenda for Change Band 5/6 or equivalent)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join a friendly and supportive GP practice in Scarborough. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to our practice population, working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary primary care team.

This role is ideal for an experienced Practice Nurse or a Registered Nurse looking to develop their career within primary care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver chronic disease management clinics (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
  • Provide cervical cytology (smear tests)
  • Administer childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations
  • Conduct health promotion and lifestyle advice (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management)
  • Perform wound care, dressings, and suture removal
  • Carry out health assessments and NHS health checks
  • Support infection prevention and control procedures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records using EMIS/Systm One (or equivalent)
  • Work in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and practice policies
  • Participate in clinical audits, QOF, and service improvement initiatives
  • Support and mentor healthcare assistants or student nurses where appropriate
Essential Criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration
  • Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting (or strong interest with transferable skills)
  • Competence in immunisations and chronic disease management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
Desirable Criteria
  • Qualification in Practice Nursing or Primary Care Nursing
  • Cervical cytology qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Experience with QOF and long-term condition reviews
  • Knowledge of local community and NHS services
