Practice Nurse – Scarborough
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Permanent / Fixed-term (flexible)
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (to be agreed)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (aligned with NHS Agenda for Change Band 5/6 or equivalent)
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join a friendly and supportive GP practice in Scarborough. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to our practice population, working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary primary care team.
This role is ideal for an experienced Practice Nurse or a Registered Nurse looking to develop their career within primary care.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver chronic disease management clinics (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
- Provide cervical cytology (smear tests)
- Administer childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations
- Conduct health promotion and lifestyle advice (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management)
- Perform wound care, dressings, and suture removal
- Carry out health assessments and NHS health checks
- Support infection prevention and control procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records using EMIS/Systm One (or equivalent)
- Work in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and practice policies
- Participate in clinical audits, QOF, and service improvement initiatives
- Support and mentor healthcare assistants or student nurses where appropriate
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration
- Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting (or strong interest with transferable skills)
- Competence in immunisations and chronic disease management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Qualification in Practice Nursing or Primary Care Nursing
- Cervical cytology qualification
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Experience with QOF and long-term condition reviews
- Knowledge of local community and NHS services
