Position: Registered Nurse - ICU ) | and Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Are you a highly motivated individual with high standards of evidence based, holistic, patient centred care, and experience of acting as a primary or associate nurse with or without direct supervision within our ICU and HDU?

In this role you will deliver direct patient care in liaison with the senior nurse on duty and also be required to be the experienced nurse within the HDU to ensure the effective running of the area.

Joining our established and dynamic multi-disciplinary team where clinical and nursing teams work well together, you will provide mentorship, assessment and direction to unqualified and junior staff inexperienced in Critical Care. You will promote a positive working and learning environment to aid the personal and professional development of self and other staff. Depending on experience you'll be offered preceptorship/supernumerary time.

Qualifications

You must have first level registration (or be about to qualify within 3 months) and have an awareness of current issues in Critical Care and nursing. You will have a range of skills that include effective written and verbal communication, numeracy, ability to organise your own work and deliver care in a timely manner. You must be willing to undertake further training and development to meet the needs of the Critical Care service.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
  • Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
