Through the expansion of our Endoscopy Pre‑assessment Team the exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced nurses to join our team. We are looking for experienced nurses with enthusiasm, strong communications and documentation skills, who are driven to provide excellent patient‑focused care within our JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit. Working across Scarborough and Bridlington sites to assist with keeping services improving across the East Coast, the successful candidate will be a team player with a strong desire to provide compassionate care and empower others within a friendly and supportive environment.
You must be able to work well as part of a team and be able to use your initiative and work well under pressure. Full training will be given to the successful applicant by our Pre‑Assessment Lead, with additional training given to support your development as a nurse within the Endoscopy Unit. The Pre‑assessment Nurse role involves assessing all patients prior to their Colonoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy procedures offering support and guidance with any questions or concerns patients may have.
Further to this you will advise all patients taking blood thinning medication prior to their procedures following the Trust's policies and guidelines. You will need to be able to communicate with the MDT to ensure any concerns are raised with Consultants prior to the procedures and any relevant advice collected to ensure the safety of the patients when they attend for their procedure.
- Maintain a high standard of patient‑focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept
- Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information
- Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
- Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
- Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
- Registered Nurse experience of minimum 2 years within NHS
- Previous pre‑assessment experience
- Endoscopy knowledge
Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.
