Healthcare Nursing
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated Registered nurse to join our stoma care service.
The Trust provides a comprehensive range of specialist acute and community healthcare services for approximately 800,000 people living in York, North and East Yorkshire and Ryedale – an area covering 3,400 square miles. We manage community-based services in Selby, York, Scarborough, and Ryedale, and deliver a wide range of acute and elective services in our hospitals in Scarborough, York and Bridlington, as well as outpatient services across all of our localities.
We manage eight hospital sites and have a workforce of 8,500 staff working across our hospitals and in the community.
We support over 250 new stoma patients each year. York and Scarborough Hospitals offer colorectal stoma surgery, with our urology patients going to Leeds, Hull and Middlesbrough for their surgery, and we provide their ongoing aftercare.
The post holder will be based in Scarborough Hospital, but you will be expected to work across all of our sites, and complete home visits to ensure flexible patient-centred care. Expenses can be claimed or use of a Trust pool car.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for the delivery of excellent patient care, manage their own case load, and be committed to their own professional development.
The role involves supporting patients throughout diagnosis and stoma formation surgery, including pre‑op counselling, education and training, discharge planning and ongoing review and follow‑up. The post holder will be expected to run a nurse‑led clinic and will be fully supported with any training requirements.
As a team, we are committed to ongoing training and education for all staff, and you will be expected to engage in regular stoma training with all levels of healthcare staff.
New members of staff receive a structured period of preceptorship and opportunities for external learning. The successful candidate will receive a warm welcome and all the help and support we can offer to become the very best you can be, including an excellent staff benefits package.
The post holder will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience at Band 5 with a nursing degree qualification, and colorectal or stoma experience is essential.
If you are interested in stoma care and want to be part of this busy, dynamic, innovative service then we would love you to join our successful team.
We look forward to hearing from you!
