An exciting opportunity for an experienced and forward‑thinking Professional Midwifery Advocate to lead and coordinate a developing team of sessional PMAs within maternity services, supporting the delivery of restorative clinical supervision, professional advocacy, staff wellbeing, quality improvement and safe, personalised care.
Using the A‑EQUIP model, the Lead PMA will provide visible leadership, clear direction and coordination for the PMA team and work closely with maternity governance colleagues, senior midwives, clinical teams and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to strengthen reflective practice, professional resilience, staff experience and service improvement.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a registered midwife with a PMA qualification, experience of delivering restorative clinical supervision and the confidence to support colleagues across all areas of maternity care. The successful candidate will create safe thinking spaces for midwives and students, promote personal and professional accountability, support revalidation and career development, contribute to learning from incidents, complaints, investigations and national recommendations, and play an important role in supporting recruitment, retention, wellbeing and the continued development of the PMA service.

- Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Educated to master's level or working towards this.
- Coaching qualification.
- Experience of delivering restorative clinical supervision and using the A‑EQUIP model in practice.
- Significant midwifery experience across maternity services.
- Experience of leading or coordinating a team.
- Experience of working across multiple sites or service areas.
- Experience of contributing to service development, audit or workforce retention initiatives.
- Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with staff at all levels across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience of developing standard operating procedures, guidance or service plans.
- Commitment to inclusive, personalised and equitable care for women, birthing people, babies and families.
- Experience of supporting staff networks, inclusion work or co‑production activity.
- Acts as a positive role model and promotes professional standards, kindness, openness and excellence.
- Visible, compassionate and inclusive leadership style.
- Active involvement in local, regional or national PMA networks.
