Make a real difference to young carers across Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.
Carers Plus Yorkshire is looking for a compassionate, proactive and enthusiastic Young Carer Worker to join their busy and dedicated team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to support young carers aged 8 to 18, helping them feel seen, heard and empowered while building resilience and accessing the rights support at the right time.
Working up to 30 hours per week and based from the Snainton office, this role has been created to strengthen capacity within the young carers team and respond to growing support needs across the local area.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in raising awareness of young carers, identifying hidden young carers in schools and communities, and delivering meaningful support that helps young people manage the impact of their caring responsibilities.
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who is passionate about working with young people and understands the importance of a whole-family, person-centred approach.
The postholder will provide information, advice, practical, social and emotional support to young carers who are helping to care for a relative or friend affected by illness, disability, mental ill health, or drug and alcohol misuse.
The role also includes close working with families, referrers, schools, communities and partner agencies to ensure young carers can access the wider support available to them and are encouraged to work towards their personal and educational goals.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can build trusted relationships with young people, families and professionals. The ideal candidate will be proactive, innovative and confident in finding creative ways to engage young carers and broaden access to support.
This is a chance to be part of a team that is committed to improving outcomes for young carers and making sure they do not face their caring role alone. You will be joining a supportive service that values collaboration, creativity and compassionate practice, while giving you the opportunity to shape meaningful support for young people across the area. If you are motivated by the chance to make a lasting difference and want to help young carers thrive, this could be a brilliant next step.
In return, we offer an attractive annual leave package of 25 days plus bank holidays pro rata, with service length increases up to 30 days plus bank holidays.
Own transport is essential due to some rural locations.
