The company's Engineering & Property Services function provides end-to-end support across real estate, engineering, project management, and facilities operations, ensuring world-class workplaces and infrastructure that enable business growth and operational excellence.
As part of a major Site Master Plan programme valued at approximately $150-200 million, the organisation is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead a key project workstream through its full lifecycle, with particular emphasis on facility construction, commissioning, qualification, and handover.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project engineering professional with a background in large-scale capital projects within regulated environments such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, or similar industries.
Main Tasks / Responsibilities Strategic Project Leadership & Delivery- Lead large-scale capital projects across all phases, including planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities and project delivery strategies.
- Act as the senior technical authority for assigned projects.
- Review and approve engineering designs, technical submissions, and change requests.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with company standards, industry regulations, and applicable codes.
- Manage multi-million-dollar project budgets and cost controls.
- Support procurement activities, contractor selection, and performance evaluations.
- Participate in bid reviews and value engineering initiatives to optimise project outcomes.
- Develop and manage project schedules aligned with wider programme timelines.
- Identify critical path activities and implement mitigation plans where required.
- Maintain risk registers, track project performance, and drive corrective actions.
- Provide owner-side engineering leadership throughout construction and commissioning phases.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure alignment with approved designs and safety expectations.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, technical records, and as-built drawings.
- Prepare and present project updates, technical reports, and risk assessments to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' experience leading capital projects, ideally within regulated industries such as:
- Pharmaceuticals
- Biotechnology
- Medical Devices
- Life Sciences
- Other highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Proven experience delivering medium- to high-complexity capital projects from concept to completion.
- Demonstrated experience representing the owner/client side and managing relationships with Architecture & Engineering (A&E) and Construction Management partners.
- Strong experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and collaborating with Quality, EHS, Operations, and external consultants
In Switzerland, for contract roles it is mandatory for the candidate to be a Swiss citizen of a European passport holder.
