We're currently seeking a
Family or Internal Medicine Physician to join our exceptional team at our Schertz Wellness Center in Schertz, TX
. Here you will care for a unique, all-adult patient population of retired San Antonio firefighters, police officers, and their dependents. Our patients benefit from comprehensive, relationship-based primary care, preventive health, and a strong focus on wellness and physical function. Physicians with additional training or an interest in Sports Medicine will also have opportunities to apply that knowledge when appropriate to patient care.

Forget the pressure of seeing 25-30 patients every day. Our physicians typically see 8-14 patients daily

Essential Job Functions
:

• Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients in order to meet their needs
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients
• Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
• Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
• Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care
• Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
• Orders studies, test, and ancillary services
• Documents all services in patient medical record in EHR (Elation)
• Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention
• Consults with Physician Lead, Director of Medicine, and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and educational issues
• Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by Health by Design
• Assists as needed in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients
• Assists in the development, production, and presentation of medical education, material, lectures, and mixed media presentations for patient and medical staff

Education
:
Graduate of accredited US School of Medicine; MD or DO

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
:

• Current license to practice in state of clinic location (Texas)
• Board Certification / Board Eligible (Family or Internal Medicine)
• Current DEA Certificate
• BLS
