Position Summary
Electrical Estimator 1 – Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for any discipline. Perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications.
What You’ll Do- Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Attend pre‑bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take‑offs.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete take‑off of scope of work, using Accubid estimating software.
- Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
- Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
- May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- May provide support to field operations regarding MEP estimates.
- Understanding and interpretation of current NEC chapters 1 & 2.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
- Familiarity with Accubid McCormick or similar electrical estimating software.
- Working knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines.
- High school degree or equivalent; technical training or advanced education preferred.
- 2–5 years estimating, controls, and/or engineering experience related to construction.
