Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: $85,000–$110,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting custom industrial automation machinery throughout the project lifecycle
The position is open to candidates with varying levels of experience. Mechanical Design Engineers will contribute to equipment design, CAD modeling, documentation, and project execution, while Senior Mechanical Design Engineers will take greater ownership of complex projects, lead mechanical design efforts, and support other engineers
Qualified candidates should have a solid understanding of mechanical design principles, electro-mechanical equipment, and manufacturing processes. Experience with custom industrial automation machinery is highly valued

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use Solid Works CAD software extensively to develop mechanical designs for custom automation equipment
Develop conceptual designs and translate engineering requirements into practical mechanical solutions
Create detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies for custom machinery and equipment
Prepare manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Identify and specify purchased components from vendors and prepare purchasing schedules for procurement
Enter and maintain project information in the E2 Shop Tech Scheduler
Support project planning, coordination, and execution, with opportunities to manage projects based on experience
Track project progress, maintain documentation, and ensure design deliverables meet project requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design and equipment issues
Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and assembly teams throughout the design process
Support fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of custom equipment
Travel occasionally to customer sites for equipment evaluation, troubleshooting, and installation

Additional Responsibilities for Senior-Level Candidates:

Lead mechanical design projects from initial concept through manufacturing, assembly, testing, and installation
Take ownership of complex custom automation projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to technical requirements
Coordinate mechanical design activities and collaborate with other engineers to resolve technical challenges
Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and contribute to design reviews
Manage project schedules, documentation, resources, and deliverables throughout the mechanical design lifecycle

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Mechanical Design Engineer

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering or technical field
At least 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, equipment design, or a related engineering discipline
Strong proficiency in Solid Works CAD software
