About the position of Work Preparation Engineer

What to expect of the Work Preparation Engineer position within Huisman?

As a Work Preparation Engineer, you are the professional who oversees the entire production chain from project information and engineering to production and delivery. You make sure everything is in perfect order before it reaches the shop floor. Thanks to your preparation, our skilled workers can build, assemble, and deliver with confidence.

You ensure that manpower, machines, materials, and components are available exactly when needed. You think ahead, identify what is required, and create calm and clarity in an environment where technology and precision are essential. Because of your work, production runs according to schedule and we can deliver on our promises to customers.

With us, you’ll have the space to grow, improve, and make a real impact on challenging steel construction projects. You are the link that turns ideas into practical, buildable solutions making you an indispensable force within our team.

What do we expect of you?
  • Analyze project information and production processes to determine required capacity, resources, and work sequences
  • Balance required and available production capacity in relation to delivery schedules and planning assumptions
  • Identify, report, and proactively resolve (potential) deviations in planning and production schedules
  • Prepare and plan work activities, including work sequences, estimated hours, procedures, and work instructions
  • Coordinate outsourcing activities, order materials, and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
  • Monitor, adjust, and optimize production schedules where necessary
  • Actively participate in project and production meetings
  • Support production, project management, and the planning/operations department

You will have:

  • Higher professional (HBO) working and thinking level in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Work preparation experience experience in work preparation within steel construction, heavy industry, or production environments.
  • Strong analytical skills strong analytical ability and experience with various production processes.
  • ERP and structured working experience with production planning, ERP systems, and a structured way of working.
  • Clear communication you communicate clearly, work accurately, and take ownership.
  • Technical and international mindset you feel at home in a down‑to‑earth, technically driven, and international organization.
Some practical things we need you to have:
  • An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
  • A good command of the Dutch and English language verbally and in writing.
