About The Position Of Material And Welding Engineer
What to expect of the Material Engineer position within Huisman? We offer you a challenging position in an international organisation where innovation, quality, flexibility and creativity are key. As a Materials Scientist, you translate production methods into instructions for engineering so that designs are optimised for production. In addition, you will support the production departments with the technology, so that the designs can be produced efficiently at the required quality level.
You will also collect, evaluate and discuss the (new) production methods at the various Huisman production locations and projects of Huisman are large and complex and can amount to more than fifty million euros.

What do we expect of you?
As a Materials Scientist , you work with different materials and deal with their requirements and properties. You work closely with various stakeholders such as R&D, engineers, purchasers, quality controllers and the various production locations.
Responsibilities
Production technologies such as: cutting, cold and hot forming, fit-up, welding, surface treatments, painting, machining and assembly;
Research and implementation of new manufacturing techniques with a focus on welding technology;
Material selections such as steel (plate, forgings, castings, bolts, pipes, 3D prints), bronze, polymers and other suitable materials;
Relevant requirements and properties of these materials (strength, toughness, chemical composition, delivery conditions, tolerances).

Requirements
Completed higher professional education or university degree, preferably in materials science, mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or maritime engineering;
Knowledge of different types of materials;
Knowledge of different types of materials and welding techniques;
Experience with Mechanical Engineering;
Affinity with conducting experiments and collecting data;
Eye for detail;
Ability to adapt quickly to new requirements and set priorities;
Broad interests
Some Practical Things We Need You To Have
An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
A good command of the Dutch and English language verbally and in writing.
