About the position of Financial Controller

What to expect from the Financial Controller position at Huisman

As part of the continued professionalisation of the finance function, we are looking for a Financial Controller. You will have the opportunity to shape this role based on your own expertise and experience. You will be part of a team of approximately 26 colleagues, including 8 colleagues in the Shared Service Centre in the Czech Republic, and will report to the Business Controller.

As Financial Controller at Huisman, you will be responsible for controlling and providing insight into operational expenditure (OPEX). You will work closely with various departments to analyse and interpret financial data, and support the development of business plans and accurate forecasts. Through effective cost management and clear financial reporting, you will contribute directly to the financial health of the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Controlling and monitoring operational expenditure (OPEX), identifying and reporting variances in a timely manner;
  • Preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
  • Developing and implementing financial controls and procedures to ensure accurate cost reporting;
  • Supporting the preparation of business plans and budgets, and ensuring effective cost control;
  • Preparing and maintaining financial forecasts to assess future financial performance;
  • Analysing financial data to identify trends and recommending cost-saving measures;
  • Working closely with other departments to increase financial awareness and implement cost-saving initiatives;
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports and analyses to management;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

You are:

  • Comfortable working with numbers and financial analyses;
  • Accurate and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Available to work full-time.

You have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field;
  • Around three years of relevant experience in a financial role, such as Financial Controller or Financial Analyst;
  • The ability to understand, interpret and clearly explain financial information;
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and tools, such as Account View, ISAH and MS Power BI;
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently.
Some practical things we need you to have:
  • An EU passport or a valid work permit for the Netherlands;
  • A good command of both English and Dutch, spoken and written.
