HEAD START Family Advocate

ResponsibilitiesAs a Head Start Family Advocate, candidates promote children and families’ progress across the standards as outlined in the Head Start Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework to build respectful, culturally responsive and trusting relationships with families. Individuals also provide assistance and support to families to ensure all state and federal standards are being met. Knowledge of local community resources and building new and maintaining relationships and partnerships within community entities is essential.
Individuals must keep our mission and Core Values at the Forefront when working with families and community entities, and demonstrate effective communication and a non‑judgmental attitude when working with staff, families and children.

Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Nebraska Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and a working phone
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of hire and maintain current certification throughout employment
- Prior experience working with preschool‑aged children (preferred)
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Pay starts at $15.88 or more depending on qualifications
Position runs from August 1st through mid‑May every year.
