OVERVIEW
The Craft House Lead is responsible for set design, themed rooms, teaching art classes, and managing the Craft House. The objective is to create, maintain, and lead a safe, enjoyable, and educational program for campers who participate in Craft House activities each week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Plan and implement daily crafts aligned with camp goals and themes
- Teach age‑appropriate, creative, and educational art projects that connect to the summer theme and daily core values
- Use the Craft House to enhance camper learning and experience
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functional Craft House; supervise campers to prevent unsafe behavior
- Organize and manage craft supplies, ensuring proper use and timely inventory reporting
- Prepare the Craft House for scheduled activities (electives, AIR time, free time)
- Keep records of camper progress and support skill development
- Develop and implement rainy‑day plans for assigned cabins
- Participate in evening programs, campfires, and decorating efforts with Program Staff
- Ensure staff access to art supplies and assist with decorating cabins and program areas
- Support Salvation Army badge and enrichment classes as assigned
- Assist with opening/closing day procedures and late‑night supervision
- Maintain cleanliness in living quarters and report maintenance issues
- Build relationships with campers and staff, modeling Christ‑like behavior and service
- Actively contribute to the spiritual formation of campers and staff
- Immediately report any suspected child abuse to the Assistant Camp Director and follow proper procedures
- Other related duties as required
All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Minimum 18 years of age (required)
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (required)
- Education in art or education (preferred)
- Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)
- Interest, knowledge, and skills in arts and crafts
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to enforce them
- Ability to teach and engage children ages 8–18
- Must be of good moral character
- Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord
- Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools

QUALIFICATIONS– PREFERRED
Some college;
Camping experience either as a camper or staff.
