Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician II works under direct to general supervision and supports a wide range of maintenance, repair, and campus care activities across buildings and grounds. This role focuses on routine maintenance tasks, basic repairs, and assisting senior technicians while developing technical skills across multiple trades.

The Maintenance Technician II is a hands‑on, learning‑focused role ideal for individuals building foundational maintenance experience within a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.

Accountabilities
  • Performs routine painting, carpentry, and basic masonry work (e.g., surface preparation, applying paint with brush or roller, basic hardware installation, minor patching and repairs).

  • Conducts visual inspections of buildings, equipment, and campus areas to identify maintenance needs and reports findings to senior technicians or supervisors.

  • Assists with basic electrical maintenance, including replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, and minor components under guidance and in accordance with safety standards.

  • Performs basic plumbing maintenance such as clearing minor clogs, replacing faucets or fixtures, tightening connections, and assisting with larger plumbing repairs.

  • Assists with reconfiguring, installing, and relocating furniture, modular office components, and equipment to support operational needs.

  • Performs routine inspection and minor repairs of doors, handles, closers, screens, and weather stripping.

  • Assists with monitoring and basic care of the Infinity Tub, following established procedures.

  • Completes assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner using the work order system.

  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of tools, supplies, vehicles, and storerooms.

  • Follows safety protocols and campus procedures at all times.

  • Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school coursework or related hands‑on experience preferred.

  • 1‑3 years of general maintenance, facilities, or related experience preferred.

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop skills across multiple maintenance disciplines.

  • Customer‑service mindset with a positive, professional demeanor.

  • Ability to follow directions, ask questions, and accept feedback.

  • Basic familiarity with common hand and power tools.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks with guidance and support.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Strong alignment with 1440's mission, vision, and values.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based environment.

  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Outlook and enter work orders digitally.

  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic campus setting.

Developing knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Electrical (basic)

  • Plumbing (basic)

  • Carpentry

  • Doors and hardware

  • Flooring

  • Masonry / tile (basic)

  • Vehicle and equipment support (gas and electric)
