Job Description

DHHS is seeking individuals with a passion to "Help People Live Better Lives" for the role of Eligibility Operations Worker. Candidates will access services, provide excellent customer service, work with detailed documents and processes to determine eligibility for various assistance programs in our Economic Assistance or Medicaid teams.

Job Duties
  • Participate in 6–8 weeks of paid training to determine eligibility for individuals within our Economic Assistance or Medicaid programs.
  • Daily review applications for assistance and verify or update financial and demographic information electronically, by phone, or in person.
  • Use call center software and automated call distribution as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

– 24 semester hours of post‑high‑school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education, or a closely related field, OR experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, examining/processing financial loan applications, medical/unemployment insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment services, OR combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in human services, case management, or determining eligibility for financial assistance programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of customer service principles, interviewing practices, sociological conditions that influence human behavior.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and multiple computer systems.
  • Empathy, respect for service users; ability to work independently, meet deadlines, protect confidential information, interpret regulations, exercise judgment and make decisive determinations; maintain positive relationships and communicate effectively.
