HR Generalist
Platte Valley Companies - Scottsbluff, NE

Job Summary

Partners with supervisors to deliver effective HR solutions across recruiting, performance management, and compensation. Ensures processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals while fostering a positive and productive work environment. Serve as a back‑up for employee relations by providing guidance to supervisors on performance management, conflict resolution and policy interpretation.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with supervisors to support the full-cycle recruitment process, including managing job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing and selection.
  • Ensure consistent application of hiring processes, candidate experience standards, job offers, background screenings and employer branding to attract high‑quality candidates.
  • Manage relationships with community partners and agencies to support a diverse talent pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate and updated job descriptions for all positions.
  • Administer and maintain the performance management system, ensuring timely completion of annual reviews and compensation adjustments.
  • Train supervisors on effective performance feedback and discussions, goal setting and documentation practices.
  • Implement compensation changes and maintain pay structures in alignment with company policies.
  • Partner with leadership to align HR practices with strategic business objectives, supporting workforce planning and organizational development.
  • Serve as an HRIS admin to maintain accurate HR records for all employees, ensure data integrity and support reporting needs.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Serve as a back‑up to HR director by being a point of contact for employee relations by providing guidance to supervisors on performance management, conflict resolution and policy interpretation. Escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Track HR metrics and recommend process, engagement and retention improvements.
  • Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance department effectiveness.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all HR policies and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • College education preferred. High School diploma required. SHRM‑CP preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices or ability and desire to learn.
  • The ability to detect exceptions and problem trends / issues.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present and communicate information both in writing and verbally in‑person and in virtual environments.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and Zoom; experience with compensation tools a plus.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Ability to contribute and/or lead special projects.
  • General areas of competency: decision making, dependability, development, environmental safety, evaluation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritizing, problem solving, selling skills, team skills and time management.
  • Must be capable of working with and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Physical Requirements

    Light Work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Reaching, fingering, grasping, repetitive motions, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, climbing, kneeling, talking, hearing, pulling, pushing, thinking, concentrating and interacting with others. You should be capable of performing in a reasonable manner, with or without reasonable accommodation, the activities involved in this job.
