Project Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts needed - day and night opening.
Job Description:
Position Summary
The ICU/PCU Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill or medically complex patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. The RN demonstrates advanced clinical judgment, technical skills, and evidence-based practice in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in accordance with hospital policies and State Nurse Practice Act.
- Monitor and manage critically ill patients requiring advanced therapies such as ventilators, vasoactive infusions, hemodynamic monitoring, and other specialized equipment.
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately, adhering to established protocols.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, utilizing critical thinking skills and initiating rapid interventions as appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for complex patients.
- Provide education, emotional support, and resources to patients and their families regarding conditions, treatments, and ongoing care needs.
- Document patient care activities, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, shared governance, and evidence-based practice projects to enhance patient outcomes and unit performance.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to peers, ancillary staff, and new team members.
- Uphold patient safety, dignity, and satisfaction as top priorities in care delivery.
Qualifications
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred). - Licensure/Certification:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license. BLS and ACLS required; CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
Experience:
- ICU:
Minimum 1 year of critical care nursing experience. - PCU:
Prior step-down/telemetry/acute care experience strongly.
