We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to take charge of our accounting and payroll functions. We are looking for an individual who is analytical, methodical, and experienced in accounting and payroll administration. A deep understanding of payroll regulations is crucial. Additionally, we value qualities such as integrity, team spirit, and strong organizational skills.
As our Accounting Manager, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the financial well-being of our organization and ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Processes bi-weekly payroll including that all payroll taxes and filings are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems
- Manages payroll tax audits
- Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Works with Controller on Workman’s Comp audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- 7+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
- Familiarity with payroll software/ HRIS (e.g. Sage, Arcoro) and MS Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
