Blue Star Resort & GolfBlue Star is a boutique management firm focused on supporting developers, asset managers, and community Boards in the successful operation of their resort and golf amenities. Our expertise is in all aspects of hospitality management, including golf, spa, food & beverage, community clubs, and more, particularly in active adult or age-qualified residential communities. We also provide full-scale landscape services in some locations.
Our portfolio spans literally from coast to coast, with many beautiful locations in between.
- Full‑time team members working 30 hours or more per week are eligible for Company medical, dental, and life insurance plans the first of the month following the first day of full‑time employment.
- Accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at a rate of 120 hours per year.
- 7 paid holidays annually.
- Eligible for J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service (age 21+).
The Staff Accountant reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and is responsible for maintaining accounting records and executing key tasks described below.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate the core values and mission of Blue Star Resort & Golf to support company goals.
- Maintain effective communication with all team members to ensure a smooth, informed, and consistent atmosphere related to office functions.
- Daily interaction with clients, with a high degree of customer service.
- Maintain accurate financial data.
- Track and control daily banking activity.
- Process accounts payable.
- Daily revenue and reporting.
- Monitor and reconcile credit card activity.
- Maintain fixed asset records and related support.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and process sales tax returns.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

- Able to work under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments.
- Strong team‑building skills, including the ability to lead, cooperate, and motivate.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- One to three years of related accounting experience preferred.
- Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Previous experience or interest in learning the hospitality industry.
- JD Edwards accounting software highly desirable.
- Understanding of GAAP guidelines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with excellent customer service.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Initiative, problem‑solving, and independent decision‑making.
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with continuous improvement.
- Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
Professional indoor office environment using standard office equipment. Moderate noise level.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to speak and hear, sit or stand for extended periods, walk, use hands and fingers, lift or move up to 20 pounds.
