Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team for seasonal or full-time employment. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-10 years of hands‑on tax preparation experience
, strong familiarity with individual and small‑business returns, and the ability to work extended hours during peak tax season. Candidates should be highly accurate, client‑focused, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
This role requires strong technical tax skills, excellent client communication, and the ability to manage multiple returns with precision and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual (1040) and small‑business tax returns (Schedule C, partnerships, S‑corps, etc.)
- Review client financial information and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Conduct client interviews to ensure full and accurate information gathering
- Advise clients on tax‑related questions and basic planning opportunities
- Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and compliance issues
- Maintain detailed and confidential client records
- Enter and update data in tax preparation software
- Communicate with clients regarding missing documents or follow‑up needs
- Assist with extensions, amendments, and tax projections as needed
- Ensure returns meet firm quality standards and are prepared in accordance with IRS regulations
- Collaborate with administrative staff and other preparers to support office workflow during tax season
Qualifications
- 5‑10+ years of experience preparing individual and/or small‑business tax returns
- Experience using Quick Books and Lacerte
- CPA or EA
- Strong understanding of federal and Arizona state tax laws
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of client information
- Ability to work overtime and extended hours during peak season
- PTIN required (or ability to obtain before hire)
- Background check and references required
