Director of Grant Strategy and Institutional Funding
Location: Remote (Scottsdale/Phoenix strongly preferred, not required)
Seniority: Hybrid - Director-Level Strategic Function/Individual-Contributor
Reporting to: Founder
Compensation: Competitive + Equity
About the RoleKlaritee is building a deterministic intelligence platform grounded in structure, verification, and institutional-grade governance. As we expand that foundation, we are establishing a dedicated leadership role to own and operate our non-dilutive funding strategy.
The Director of Grant Strategy and Institutional Funding is responsible for designing, executing, and overseeing the full lifecycle of institutional funding, across government programs, research initiatives, universities, and strategic partners. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, governance, and execution. The person in this seat will architect how non-dilutive capital supports Klaritee’s long-term proof, governance posture, and institutional credibility, without distorting the technology or compromising clarity.
CoreMandate
The primary mandate of this role is to build and run Klaritee’s institutional funding engine. That includes identifying high-leverage funding opportunities, structuring partnerships, coordinating submissions, and ensuring post-award compliance and integrity. The role owns not only acquisition, but continuity, how funding compounds rather than fragments.
Strategic ResponsibilitiesThis role leads funding strategy across multiple institutional domains, including federal and state agencies, research programs, and academic partnerships.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing a coherent, multi-year non-dilutive funding strategy aligned with Klaritee’s technical roadmap and governance model
- Mapping and monitoring relevant programs (e.g., SBIR/STTR, DoD, NSF, DARPA, DHS, DOE, NIH, and university-led initiatives)
- Evaluating which opportunities advance institutional positioning versus those that introduce distraction or credibility risk
- Sequencing applications so early wins enable larger, more strategic awards
The role requires sound judgment. Not every available grant is worth pursuing.
Institutional Partnerships & CollaborationKlaritee’s funding strategy is partnership-driven by design. This role coordinates and structures collaborations with:
- Universities and research institutions
- Government agencies and public-sector stakeholders
- Prime contractors and consortium leads
- Nonprofits, foundations, and policy-adjacent organizations
The Director ensures that partnership roles, IP considerations, and responsibilities are clearly defined before submission, not retroactively negotiated after award.
Internal Coordination & TranslationThis role serves as a translation layer between Klaritee’s technical, legal, and governance teams and the expectations of funding bodies.
Key aspects include:
- Working with engineering and research leads to extract accurate, defensible technical narratives
- Coordinating with legal and governance leadership to ensure compliance, disclosure integrity, and contractual clarity
- Maintaining consistency between grant language, public messaging, and actual system capabilities
Precision matters. Overstatement is not acceptable.
Post-award Oversight & ComplianceWinning funding is only the beginning. This role owns post-award execution and stewardship, including:
- Compliance with reporting, milestone, and audit requirements
- Oversight of deliverables, timelines, and spend integrity
- Relationship management with funding entities throughout the award lifecycle
This function protects Klaritee’s reputation as much as it secures capital.
What This Role Is Designed to BeThis role is designed for someone who thinks in systems, timelines, and institutional incentives. It is for a leader who understands how non-dilutive capital fits into long-term strategy, who can say “not yet” and “no” when appropriate, and who values accuracy over volume.
Integrity & Fit NoticeThis role requires a high standard of accuracy, restraint, and institutional discipline. Klaritee is not seeking candidates who rely on inflated language, speculative claims, or volume-based submission tactics.…
