Tracking Systems Engineer

Acara Solutions seeks a Tracking Systems Engineer for our client in Scottsdale, AZ.

As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross‑functional team responsible for developing and deploying state‑of‑the‑art ground operational systems.

Your contributions will be crucial to the program's success and innovation.

Design, develop, and integrate ground-based tracking and mission systems for space operations.

Translate high‑level system requirements into detailed architectures, interfaces, and designs.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support system validation, deployment, and sustainment.

Contribute to the development of cloud‑based and microservice‑oriented system solutions.

• Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Technology or Mathematics with 5 years of experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with system/software design for cloud‑based microservice architecture.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with systems design, integration, and validation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with ground pre‑planned or ad‑hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloads.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience decomposing high‑level space‑ground systems design into ground software/systems design.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or Magic Draw.

• Master's Degree with 3 years of experience.
• Agile experience.
• Ground system design or scheduling knowledge.
• Tracking mission design knowledge.
• Satellite communications knowledge.
• Ground to satellite communication knowledge.
• Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows).
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design.
• Understanding of Dev Ops principles and practices.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation).
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures.
• Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behavior.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment.
• Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications.
• Understanding of Dev Ops principles and practices.

• Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
