Summary

SRP’s OT Applications/Grid Management System Engineering seeks an Engineer with at least 10 years of utility experience to primarily support and maintain the SRP Energy Management System (EMS). Responsibilities include maintaining the power system model and applications used within the EMS to support real-time and future studies using State Estimation, Power Flow, and Contingency Analysis. Duties may include general EMS support, periodic callout support, SCADA database maintenance, ICCP administration, AGC configuration and development, advanced applications (Network Modeling, State Estimation, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, Studies), or other EMS‑related applications and interfacing with customers.

You’ll Do
  • Lead engineering projects/programs with large or many complex features.
  • Prepare specifications, evaluate bids, and provide recommendation materials for management regarding large or complex procurements.
  • Serve as a staff consultant and/or advisor in a technical specialty.
  • Perform engineering design, analysis, and studies requiring significant knowledge of related fields.
  • Lead and review work performed by consultants and others.
  • Prepare and conduct written and oral reports and presentations.
  • Represent SRP on industry committees and task forces as required.
  • Promote safety within the department.
  • Develop and train engineers on technical, project management, and best practice activities; identify or create development opportunities.
  • Establish standards and facilitate Standards Change Processes in the discipline.
  • Lead collaboration across SRP.
  • Represent SRP in legal and regulatory matters or technical proceedings as required.
  • Drive thought leadership to advance new ideas, products, services, and business processes to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead organizational change management to foster success of new business products, services, and processes.
What It Takes To Succeed
  • Knowledge and experience with power system modeling and analysis tools:
    Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, and State Estimation; familiarity with newer technologies such as Synchro Phasors.
  • Experience with transient and voltage stability tools is preferred but not required.
  • Initiative, teamwork, and leadership of department and/or customer projects; detail-oriented yet able to see the big picture.
  • Responsible for budgets, schedules, and management of resources for major-scope programs and projects.
