Description

Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring an Assistant Controller to become an important part of our high growth team. The Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions, drive the monthly close, and create effective financial reporting. This position reports to the Controller, VP of Finance and Accounting, and is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), reviewing and analyzing financial information, and preparing financial reports.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise Senior Accountants and provide indirect oversight of their staff.
  • Monitor and review financial transactions and activities of the company.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and financial reports and statements to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, GAAP, and established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accounting controls and audit documents.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed.
  • Assist with external audit requests and provide information as requested.
  • Participate in special projects, team training, and development of team members.
  • Provide technical accounting support to various departments.
  • Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Requirements
  • College education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of Accounting/Finance experience.
  • Experience in a private‑equity‑backed company highly preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with Intacct or other similar multi‑entity integrated accounting software preferred.
  • Knowledge of the full accounting cycle.
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas.
  • Well organized, proactive, able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, quickly changing environment.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters.
  • Excellent understanding of English, both written and verbal, required; ability to communicate professionally and courteously with employees, clients, vendors, and business contacts.
  • Ability to adhere to a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management.
  • Ability to be self‑directed in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, and occasional walking and standing.
  • Position requires light to moderate work with 20 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
  • Position requires frequent use of a computer, reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.

  • Ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier.
  • Frequent use of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to use the internet and various web browser software.
Physical Working Conditions And Office Setting
  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
