Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Physician Assistant - Critical Care collaborates with healthcare team members to deliver age-appropriate care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic conditions. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, motivation, and independence. The Physician Assistant will demonstrate leadership as a mentor, educator, researcher, and provider, and may act as a first assist in their specialty.

Essential

Functions
  • Provides advanced care for acute conditions, assists in surgeries, participates in discharge planning, and may perform invasive procedures. Practices holistically, collaborates with physicians, and ensures smooth transitions of care.
  • Offers coaching, guidance, and leadership within the clinical team. Supports research and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Engages in organizational practices including reimbursement, legal and regulatory compliance, health policy, and performance evaluation.
  • Education
    • Must have a Bachelor's Degree, national certification as Physician Assistant, AZ State Licensure, and graduation from an AMA-accredited PA program.
    • Refer to specific addendum for stroke care education if applicable.
    Experience
    • Preferred: 1 year First Assist experience.
    • Required:

      3 years as a Physician Assistant in the designated specialty.
    • Preferred:
      Bilingual in Spanish.
    Licenses and Certifications
    • Required:

      ACLS, Fingerprint Clearance Card, DEA License, State Licensure, and National Certification as Physician Assistant.
    • Preferred: CSFA certification.
