AVP, Underwriting Manager - Zurich E&S Casualty; Regional

Zurich E&S is currently looking for a Regional Underwriting Manager for our E&S Casualty team. E&S Casualty is a new team that combines the Zurich E&S Excess Casualty team with the new Zurich E&S Primary Casualty team. This Regional Underwriting Manager will be responsible for developing, coaching, and managing a high‑performing regional team of both Primary and Excess Casualty underwriting staff.

Additional responsibilities include managing regional performance—new business production, policy count retention, rate/tiering execution, portfolio management actions relative to the Plan; managing regional wholesale broker relationships; managing underwriter referrals; and maintaining a small production portfolio to stay attuned with regional market changes and desk‑level challenges.

The E&S Casualty Regional Manager position will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships within the specified regions (25%). The position is a critical role in driving a diversified, dynamic, and engaging team culture. It also requires strong technical acumen in underwriting casualty risks in the E&S segment, experience in overseeing and developing underwriting talent, the ability to manage complex processes, strong wholesale producer engagement and sales skills, and a demonstrated ability to profitably manage a portfolio.

This position will be based out of our Scottsdale, AZ location. You will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the claims or Under Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
• 2 or more years of management experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Strong underwriting acumen and expertise in the E&S Primary Casualty space.
• Experience managing wholesale broker relationships.
• Strong planning and execution experience.
• Strong team building and organizational skills.
• CPCU credential.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills.
• Strong knowledge of forms language and coverage intent.
• Results‑oriented mindset.

The proposed salary range for this position is $ - $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
