Primary Casualty Associate Account Specialist / Account Specialist

The primary purpose of this position is to underwrite Primary Casualty new business and renewals in a profitable manner and according to authority level and established guidelines. Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges. Understand state laws, including cancellation and non-renewal, within assigned territory to properly transact business within each state. Knowledgeable in coverage forms and policy language;

appropriate utilization of forms and exclusions. Assist with resolving premium audit disputes within assigned agents/brokers.

• Manage renewal business under the supervision of an Underwriter and move to writing new business - prepare analysis of exposure and present to Underwriter for signoff.
• Able to gather and review information on financial conditions, risk exposure, loss history, and economic trends that may impact the terms and conditions offered to the client.
• Able to extract internal data and research external information to identify trends impacting product line.
• Able to provide basic forms/coverage interpretations and advise on additional coverage needs, understand and evaluate exposures, and underwrite policy change requests.
• Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management system and adherence to documentation standards.
• Ensure accuracy of information inputted into all appropriate systems and verify that all necessary documentation is in the file.
• Establish, support, and maintain effective relationships and/or regular contact with clients and build strong relationships with employees across the organization.

• College degree and/or equivalent experience preferred;
• Strong computer skills in word, excel, power point; comfortable working in multiple systems;
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work individually and within a team;
• Detail oriented;
• Self-directed and highly productive with little supervision
