Registered Nurse - Pre Op/PACU - PRN

Pay Range

Base pay: $49.00/hr - $49.00/hr

Location & Schedule

Banner Surgery Center-Desert Vista, central/north Scottsdale. Monday through Friday, no holidays.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction and uses specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Functions
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and post‑operative planning needs; reviews patient history and physical with patient/family; and assures completion within appropriate timeframe.
  • Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers; completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
  • Formulates and initiates a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data, patient, family, and health team input; ensures goals are realistic, measurable, and developed with the patient/family.
  • Plans care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members; reviews and revises plans to reflect changing patient needs.
  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team; follows physician orders and nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching; revises the plan of care as needed; evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes with the health care team.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensures documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy.
  • Provides care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities; participates in shared leadership and in education, orientation, and mentoring of facility personnel, patients, family, and visitors.
  • Contributes to society through activities that improve patient outcomes via timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
  • May provide relief charge for staff and workflow in some locations.
  • Performs all functions per policies, procedures, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
  • Provides an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors each day.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required.
  • Current, valid RN license (state of practice, temporary RN license, or compass RN licensure for the state of practice).
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • PALS certification required within 90 days if assigned ASC pediatrics.
  • Minimum one-year licensed RN experience in Pre Op/PACU for full‑time/part‑time; licensed RN with no Pre Op/PACU experience enrolled in Perianesthesia Academy with successful completion within 4 months.
  • New licensed RN enrolled in Perianesthesia Academy with successful completion within 4 months.
  • PRN:
    Minimum two years licensed RN experience in Pre Op/PACU.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pre Op/PACU licensed RN experience strongly preferred.
