The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient’s condition, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and using sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Provides total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
Responsibilities- Provide post-anesthesia care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
- Monitor patient condition continuously and respond to changes in status.
- Assist physicians in the procedure rooms with appropriate tasks and sterile techniques as needed.
- Support patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout the PACU stay.
- Perform assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes for patients and families preparing for discharge.
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state
- BLS and ACLS Required; PALS if required by the center
- 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
- Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage
