  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service.
  • Assists customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders and food preparation suggestions.
  • Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately, resolves customer complaints and reports to Store Director as needed.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom, and one‑on‑one customer interaction; answers questions regarding ingredients, price, and freshness of products.
  • Helps customers with special orders for cakes and other bakery items, including adding personalization to baked items and writing messages on cakes with icing.
  • Implements proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.
  • Maintains bakery case cleanliness, sample tray, visual appeal, and inventory levels; ensures a safe work environment.
  • Slices bread and prepares all bakery items (proofing, baking, packaging, icing).
  • Ensures temperatures are maintained in all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
  • Assists with physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Controls inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality and freshness; stocks, rotates product, organizes cooler; follows division directives.
  • Understands opening and closing department procedures.
  • Builds displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product; maintains cleanliness of work area.
  • Ensures proper code dating for all products within the department.
  • Follows and maintains department standards.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Performs receiving duties—breaks downloads, verifies orders using invoices, inspects quality, reports shortage, stocks and rotates product; adheres to temperature and storage guidelines and proper packaging techniques; processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate records.
  • Accurately completes, maintains, and monitors daily log sheet, production chart, sales and labor logs.
  • Controls shrink and cost.
  • Ensures proper temperature, signing, and compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company, and code dating policies.
  • Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures safety, cleanliness and sanitation of sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, prep area and display area, with code‑date compliance as required.
  • Performs all job duties safely, accurately, with honesty and integrity.
