Definition
Under general supervision from the Social Services Manager or Director, performs professional social work duties for the on-going Child Protective Services (CPS) unit within the Social Services Department. Ensures quality, effective and efficient social services are provided to clients with a focus on Child Protective Services, child abuse and neglect cases. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt.
Distinguishing FeaturesThe Senior Social Worker (Case Management) is distinguished from other Senior Social Workers by serving as the lead social worker for ongoing case management particularly with Child Protective Services. Assumes responsibility for the most difficult or complex abuse and neglect cases.

- Refers clients to other resource agencies and programs including, but not limited to, the SRPMIC HHS Department’s Behavioral Health Division, Magellan, Parenting Program and the SRPMIC HHS Health Services Division.
- Provides ongoing assessment of families and attends court hearings.
- Writes court reports that reflect a family’s progress and ensures court orders are being followed.
- Maintains current and comprehensive case files that include assessments, case plans and other case file documentation.
- Maintains regular scheduled office hours in order to be available to clients and other Community Members.
- Serves as a trainer for the new staff.
- Tracks statistics and prepares financial reports as required by the program.
- Provides alternative solutions to issues to ensure the greatest benefit for the clients in accomplishing the program objectives.
- Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, rules, customs and traditions of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal laws, rules, regulations and standards that apply to public social service programs.
- Knowledge of CPS policies, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of case management techniques and practices as well as crisis intervention methods.
- Knowledge of social work principles and concepts.
- Knowledge of social work methods and techniques including group and individual counseling, crisis intervention and referrals.
- Skill interviewing and counseling individuals, families and groups.
- Skill with case management including planning, scheduling and time management.
- Skill recording and documenting case information and case file maintenance.
- Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other health professionals, Community officials and customers.
