Application Developer (Senior Engineer – Kotlin/Java)

Summary

Our client is seeking a strong Software Engineer for our Middleware/API engineering team. This team is responsible for building the integration APIs to provide interfaces to different applications using Java and Kotlin. In this role, you will work as an Engineer in an Agile team and collaborate with Product Owner, Designer, and QA to design, build & maintain the Commercial Banking Unit.

• Responsible for application architecture, working with multiple teams, engineers, and third parties as necessary.
• Writing code, unit tests, automation, code reviews, and testing.
• Applying design patterns to develop scalable and highly performant applications/features.
• Identifying opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and anticipating future challenges.
• Deploying to production and dev‑ops.
• Working with product managers to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and manage a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues.
• Managing time effectively and working well independently or as part of a team.
• Generating and updating proof of concepts for testing and team feedback; embracing emerging standards while promoting best practices.
• Experience in the banking domain is a plus but not required.

• Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or equivalent.
• 6 years of Java/functional programming experience.
• 1 year of experience with Public Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• 6 years of experience using version control tools like Git and tools like Jira.
• Experience designing and supporting customer‑facing RESTful APIs.
• Thorough understanding of JSON, web service technologies, and data structure fundamentals.
• Good understanding of design concepts and design patterns.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing.
• Aptitude for learning and applying programming concepts.
• Collaborator, self‑starter, and passion for programming.
• Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, product, and experience owners.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and Dev Ops.
• Knowledge of Kotlin and Graph

• Experience with financial services is a plus.
