Community Revitalization Coordinator

This is a full-time position located in Scranton, PA that combines in-office responsibilities with active field work.

Position Summary:

The Community Revitalization Coordinator helps to support UNC's revitalization initiatives in Pine Brook and the Carbondale and South Side Farmers Markets. This role involves developing community programs, managing market operations, and promoting community engagement. The Coordinator reports to the Director of Community Revitalization, working 40 hours per week with evening and Saturday hours.

The ideal candidate is a reliable, organized, and community-focused professional who is comfortable working in a role that combines in-office responsibilities with active field work. They should enjoy balancing administrative and project-based work with being out in the community supporting neighborhood initiatives, farmers markets, events, and cleanups. The successful candidate will be flexible, hands-on, and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, build strong community relationships, and adjust their work schedule based on program and event needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing the weekly operations of our Carbondale and Scranton Farmers Markets to ensure smooth and efficient market activities.
  • Organize and support community events, market promotions, pop-up events, and outreach programs to attract customers, engage residents, and support local vendors.
  • Assist with transporting, setting up, and breaking down materials and equipment for farmers markets, community events, and other program activities. Including but not limited to: setting up, operating, and breaking down tables, tents, chairs, signage, and other market equipment.
  • Participate in community cleanups, beautification projects, and other neighborhood revitalization activities in South Side and Pine Brook.
  • Assist in all aspects of comprehensive community plan management in the South Side and Pine Brook neighborhoods.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with social service agencies, local businesses, residents, and other community stakeholders to promote programming and strengthen community engagement.
  • Build relationships across diverse neighborhood communities and help identify emerging community needs and opportunities for innovative programming.
  • Provide support in implementing revitalization initiatives and promoting community programs.
  • Utilize social media marketing and branding to promote community programs, farmers markets, and events.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and administrative requirements of the Elm Street program.
  • Manage multiple projects, responsibilities, events, and priorities simultaneously while maintaining organization, communicating effectively, and meeting established deadlines.
  • Adjust work schedules and priorities based on farmers markets, community events, program activities, and other operational needs.
  • Work multiple Saturdays per month and occasional evenings as required by farmers markets, community events, cleanups, pop-up markets, and other programming.
Special Knowledge/

Skills:
  • Experience in community outreach, organizing, event coordination, or customer service.
  • Ability to consistently represent the agency in a professional and positive manner when interacting with community members, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with residents, community organizations, businesses, vendors, and other stakeholders.
