Position: Head of Department for English

Salary Leadership range L7 to L11 (£60,144 to £66,367)

Melior Community Academy is looking to appoint a Head of Department for English in September 2026, on a full‑time, permanent basis.

The successful applicant will provide high quality leadership and management commensurate with the needs of the academy and the Delta Academies Trust group. In the role of Head of Department for English you will play a key role in leading English to ensure outstanding outcomes for students in all areas of teaching and learning, curriculum provision, standard of attainment, and behaviour and safety within the curriculum area.

Melior Community Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The Academy opened in January 2013 for students aged 11‑16. It is a fully inclusive Academy with a warm ethos and high aspirations for its students. The school has recently been rebuilt; its facilities are excellent and its location is within easy commuting distance of major urban areas, making it a great place to work.
