Job Overview

Lead Neonatal Educator for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, working across the Scunthorpe and Grimsby sites. Oversee the design, delivery and evaluation of neonatal education and training at the two Local Level 2 Neonatal Units to support high‑quality, evidence‑based care for babies and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate neonatal education and training programmes across NLAG.
  • Collaborate with senior nursing, medical, practice development and education teams to align education provision with national standards, regional priorities and local service needs.
  • Lead incident reviews, root cause analyses and foster a non‑blame culture that prioritises education and patient safety.
  • Support staff in learning from incidents, embedding lessons into clinical practice and systems to reduce recurrence risks.
  • Advise and train on educational processes, ensuring safe, high‑quality neonatal care in line with national and local standards.
Essential Qualifications
  • Registered RN (adult/child) with neonatal speciality.
  • Experienced in education, with the ability to evaluate local practice against national and local NHS standards.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • National Learning Service (NLS) provider qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 1 degree or equivalent in nursing or health‑related subject, or currently working towards one.
  • NLS instructor qualification.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Expert knowledge of neonatal education standards, competency frameworks and workforce development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a neonatal network or with an ODN.
  • Evidence of change management capability.
