Teaching Assistant - Special Needs

Overview

Due to expansion, an alternative provision in Scunthorpe is opening a new site based in Broughton and requires a Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with pupils with adverse childhood experiences, guiding them on their journey as they enter the new school. The provision predominantly caters for children aged 11-16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs. This role requires resilience, patience and empathy for pupils who can display dysregulated behaviours and trauma responses.

You will have the full support of the wider team, an expert care team and exceptional senior leadership. The Teaching Assistant will support children with emotional regulation and gently encourage them to access learning in a way that meets their needs. You will also be responsible for reporting safeguarding concerns for and on behalf of your pupil and the wider school community, while fostering a trusting and safe relationship with your pupil.

• Working hours:
  
  08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday (full-time).
• Contract:
  
  Permanent role, subject to successful completion of a 12-week probation period.
• Pay: £110.00 per day.
• Location:
  
  Scunthorpe site or Broughton site (based on your preference).
• Start date:
  
  Immediate; note: the stated start date is 1st September 2026.

• At least 6 months of experience working with children or transferable experience in mental health or related public service roles (e.g., Police, Probation, ex-military, children’s services).
