Head of Finance

Overview

The Head of Finance will lead the financial strategy and operations of a growing industrial/manufacturing business in Scunthorpe. This role requires a strategic thinker with expertise in accounting and finance to drive the company's financial success.

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to ensure alignment with company objectives.
• Lead and manage the accounting and finance department, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement financial strategies to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports to senior management for decision-making purposes.
• Manage cash flow, investments, and risk to ensure financial stability and growth.
• Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with operational strategies.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and recommending actions for improvement.
• Ensure robust internal controls and implement best practices in financial management.

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within an SME or owner‑managed environment
• Strong experience in cashflow forecasting and working capital management
• Demonstrable experience improving processes, controls, and reporting
• Commercially astute with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders
• Hands‑on, resilient, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, demanding environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
