Permanent Salary: £92,033 to £102,259 per annum for 40 hours per week

Hybrid What you’ll do As the Head of Financial Accounting and Control, you will lead NHG’s financial accounting and reporting function, creating a robust financial control environment and ensuring high-quality, timely financial reporting across the Group. You will take the lead on external financial reporting, provide authoritative technical accounting advice to the business, and oversee the controls, policies and systems that protect the integrity of our financial information.

As a senior member of the Finance team, you will champion customer focus and continuous improvement, helping Finance deliver strong outcomes for our residents and the wider organisation. How you’ll do it Lead the annual preparation and external publication of the Group and subsidiaries’ statutory financial statements. Oversee quarterly financial statements and bi-annual results for the Group and subsidiaries, ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness.

Establish and maintain a robust reconciliation framework across Finance, with clear accountabilities, monitoring and KPI reporting. Ensure internal controls and financial policies are reviewed annually, remain effective and are updated in line with changing requirements. Prepare and submit regulatory and statutory returns on time, including the FVA and Companies House filings. Lead the interim and year-end audit process, coordinating auditors, Finance colleagues and the wider business to meet reporting obligations.

Oversee the governance, controls and compliance of Finance systems, regularly reviewing workflows and system controls to maintain financial integrity. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification. Essential: A CCAB recognised accounting qualification, supported by relevant continuing professional development (CPD). Extensive experience of producing statutory financial statements for a Group and its subsidiaries. In-depth knowledge of the social housing sector and regulatory financial returns and filings, including FVA and Companies House requirements.

Extensive experience of leading and managing interim and year-end audits and coordinating effectively with external auditors. Strong technical accounting expertise, with the confidence to advise different parts of the business on complex accounting matters. Highly developed experience of designing and overseeing internal controls, Finance systems controls, financial policies and compliance mechanisms. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
