Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative clinician to provide a specialist Neuropsychology Service for the Neurorehabilitation Centre (NRC) at Goole and District General Hospital.

The post involves providing neuropsychological assessment and intervention, cognitive rehabilitation, and direct and indirect psychotherapeutic interventions with patients and their families or carers. Multidisciplinary team working is key to this role, and therefore the post also involves liaising with allied health professionals, medical colleagues and support staff to support the provision of a specialist Neuropsychology Service at NRC.

The clinician will be expected to oversee the provision of specialist Neuropsychology Services at NRC and ensure national guidelines are implemented for service delivery and advancement of the service. Leadership will also be provided to the Department of Psychological Medicine, and the post holder will work closely with the Clinical Lead.

The clinician is expected to support the unit with staff training and development, in addition to consultancy and supervision of colleagues in the MDT. The clinician will provide professional and clinical supervision and support with routine line management for junior psychology colleagues within the unit; this will include qualified and unqualified clinicians.

Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist psychological and cognitive assessments of rehabilitation inpatients.
  • Implement a range of specialist psychological interventions for patients, carers, families and groups.
  • Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulations and psychological treatment plans of patients under care and monitor and evaluate progress during the course of both uni- and multi-disciplinary support.
  • Provide advice, consultation and training to junior psychology clinicians and other professionals working at NRC.
  • Effectively and calmly communicate in sometimes hostile and antagonistic environments while maintaining professionalism and care for the patient, and compile and communicate diverse pieces of information into a useful verbal/non‑verbal communication with an ability to prioritise the most important aspects to be discussed.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of relevant operational policies and ways of working, through the deployment of skills in research, service evaluation and audit, and advise both service and professional management on those aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital for NLAG, and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our partnership and our community.
