Job Overview

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of neurodiverse young people and their families? Are you interested in changing perceptions, completing neurodevelopmental assessment services and promoting positive outcomes for neurodiverse young people and their families?

Following investment by local commissioners in our established RDaSH Neurodevelopmental Disorder pathways we are seeking to recruit enthusiastic Mental Health/Paediatric/adult Nurse, Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist or social worker to join our multidisciplinary Neurodevelopment assessment team.

This is an exciting time to be joining this service as we have been working closely with our partner agencies to develop a more integrated and multi‑agency/disciplinary service and working hard to reduce our current waiting lists. You will be joining a large dynamic and supportive group of Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Nurses working as neurodevelopmental practitioners who are committed to working within a compassionate framework.

Main

duties of the job

The successful candidates will be expected to support the reduction of our waiting list, a commitment that RDASH have made to ensure our children and young families are seen within a timely manner. You will have excellent communication skills and will provide consultation to families, schools and other professional and agencies when there is ASD and/or ADHD queries. There will also be a requirement to undertake ASD and ADHD assessments, understanding and recognising potential differential diagnosis.

You will have relevant demonstrable experience of working with neurodivergent children, along with experience of working in multi‑agency teams and with a wide variety of client groups which reflect the full range of clinical severity.

The Neurodevelopmental pathway is committed to personal and professional development; the role is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and transferable skills in a supportive team environment. The successful candidates will be encouraged to undertake training in the ADOS‑2.

Person specification Experience Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable post qualification experience, including experience of working with young people with complex neurodevelopmental needs and working with children and families
  • Managing and prioritising a complex caseload
  • Experience of Multi‑Disciplinary Working
  • Currently engaged in an advanced level of practice and able to demonstrate a degree of professional autonomy
  • The ability to provide patient‑centred assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation with children, young people, parents and families using professional skills
  • Ability to undertake Risk Assessments and identify appropriate plans in partnerships with the young person, families and other agencies
