Cleaner, Cleaning Services

Join DN Colleges as a Cleaner and help provide a professional, customer-focused cleaning service across our sites. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness within classrooms, offices and public areas, helping to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff and visitors.

Working as part of the Facilities Cleaning Services team, you will undertake both planned and reactive cleaning tasks, ensuring buildings, furnishings and facilities are maintained to an excellent standard. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a methodical approach, strong timekeeping skills and previous cleaning experience.

Monday to Friday 12:30pm - 16:30pm

Actual Salary per 20 hours per week – £13,660.84 per annum

• Clean the fabric of buildings, including floor coverings, fixtures, furniture and sanitary facilities.
• Carry out both planned and reactive cleaning duties.
• Move chairs, desks and other furniture as required.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers and other cleaning machinery.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and consumables are used safely and stored correctly.
• Undertake routine maintenance checks on cleaning equipment.
• Report defects, hazards and concerns to the Estates Helpdesk.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across classrooms, offices and public areas.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support an effective cleaning service.

• Experience working in a cleaning role within a similar environment.
• Ability to read and follow instructions relevant to the role.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to use cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Ability to work as part of a team and undertake physically demanding duties, including lifting and moving furniture and equipment.

• Permanent position subject to a satisfactory six-month probationary period.

• In DN Colleges we call this role Cleaner but you might know this as Cleaning Operative, Domestic Assistant, Facilities Cleaner, Housekeeping Assistant or Site Cleaner.
• The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
• Employees are expected to be flexible, as hours may be subject to averaging and some evening or weekend working may be required.
• We are not looking for agency support for this role.
