Steel operative FLT

Position: Steel operative with FLT
As a General / Straightening Operative you will be expected to perform a number of duties as per the business requirements, which include:

Operating of straightening and camber presses

Overhead crane / Fork Lift / Side Loader movements

Unload stock material ready for processing / fabrication

Load processed and fabricated material

Assisting in the operating of T splitting manual machine

Yard movements of steel stock (plates/beams/columns)

Internal material movement using overhead crane

Occasional use of handheld power tools (grinder/drill)

General housekeeping yard and workshop upkeep

About You:

This position requires a positive and enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail, assessing special rolled sections and structural sections, straightening these within tolerances using GAG presses and Overhead cranes. Full ongoing training is given, you will be able to follow clear instructions and work as part of a team to achieve set tasks and targets. The successful candidate will be physically fit and familiar working in a fast-paced heavy industry environment.

The individual must have a flexible and dynamic approach to working hours be willing and able to commit to overtime when required.

Skills and

Qualifications:

· Fork Lift Truck Licence (B1 / B3) and have a minimum of 1 year’s fork lift driving experience

· Overhead Crane experience

· Side Loader Licence (C1) (desirable)

· Experience in the steel industry, with an understanding of material specifications and dimensions (desirable)

· Must have strong written and spoken English.

· You will have excellent time keeping, positive attitude, ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Hours:

· Monday – Thursday

· 2pm - 12pm

· Overtime is available during the week and occasional weekends

· Permanent contract after successful probation period.

· Company pension scheme.

Please note:

this position will initially be on days whilst training - 6-2 / 8-4 and will then go on to a permanent 2-12 Monday-Thursday shift having Friday, Saturdays and Sundays off.
